Recipes from Grandma’s cookbook
Revitalising beef broth with “Flädli” pancake strips, “Nüssli” lamb’s lettuce salad with crispy “Speck” ham, or the original Samnaun cheese fondue – at Schmuggler-Alm, you’ll enjoy recipes just like grandma used to make. For a light bite, we recommend a “Schmuggler-Wurza” sausage or a fluffy “Kaiserschmarren” chopped pancake.

The history of the smugglers
Schmuggler-Alm takes its name from the Tyrolean smugglers of bygone days who transported goods over the mountains from Samnaun to Tyrol in the post-war period, often on secret paths that were difficult to navigate. The goods included coffee, chocolate, saccharine, tobacco, cigarettes, or nylon stockings – products that were at that time only available in Switzerland.
